We like Genesis Bikes. They have always been innovative. Part of the sportline stable of bike brands owned by Madison, Genesis has always been the creative child that has been left to get on with it. And what interesting bikes they make, steel framed pro racing bikes, Disk braked retro urban flyers and Fat tyred cross bikes. Genesis’ philosophy is simple “bring to life the sorts of bikes we enjoy riding” As they have been given a free rein they can make some bikes that other manufacturers shy away from.
The Croix der fer has become one of the brands success stories. A rugged road bike that could be used as a winter trainer. The bike became popular with city riders as it could cope with the potholes and badly maintained roads British commuters know so well. However the bike began to get headlines when cycling explorers began to use them. Vin Cox became the Guinness World Record holder for “fastest circumnavigation by bicycle” in August 2010. And then in 2011 Pete Sissons and Paul Cosgrove circumnavigated the coastline of Iceland in 14 days.
In July 2012, Genesis formed the Madison Genesis under-23 road team. The team is set to develop UK talent. The team has become a great success under the tutorage of Roger Hammond. 2016 sees Mark Cavendish joining the team as a mentor and coach.
